About Us

Welcome to Wearhead Primary School. We are a small 2 class primary school with pre-school provision for children aged two and over, located in Upper Weardale in the North Pennines.  

We federated with Hamsterley and St John’s Chapel Primary Schools in September 2023 to become the Durham Dales Federation and work closely with our partner schools to provide an exciting, broad and balanced curriculum for our pupils. Team work, collaborative and outdoor learning are key elements of our federation ethos. 

We aim to inspire our pupils, create a life-long love of learning and provide a high-quality education for every child. At Wearhead Primary School, we value parental involvement and we take every opportunity to engage with our families and the wider community.
