The children had an amazing time on their Summer Term trip! The morning was spent in Sunderland Wintergardens and the afternoon on Roker Beach.
Everyone was exhausted after a fun day of learning and playing!
Music with Mrs Hughes
Mrs Hughes from Durham Music Service works with KS1 children every Wednesday doing singing, rhythm activities and having fun. She also works with all of the KS2 children who are learning to play 3 chords on the ukulele.
History Day
To help us to celebrate our 140th birthday, we invited some past pupils and staff into school to talk about their memories. The children asked them questions and we recorded the interview with the help of Rachel Cochrane. We also visited The Luncheon Club in The Barrington Hall to ask the members their memories of schools in The Dale.
We wrote letters of the children of the future and thought about items that could go in a time capsule.
The Community Garden Restoration
Thankyou to all of the green-fingered helpers who came to school on Sunday. Our community garden is looking much better! Some people carried, some dug, some scraped, some pulled and all of us enjoyed a delicious lunch cooked by Mr Oliphant.
Family Puzzle Night
Thankyou to all of the children, parents and grandparents who came along to our family puzzle night. We all worked hard together to solve some difficult problems.
Niel Bushnell showed us how to draw bedbugs and create stories.
