Class 1 - Mrs Eastwood
Welcome to Class 1
At Wearhead Primary School, our children in the Early Years Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 are taught in Class 1. Our class teacher is Mrs Eastwood and Mrs Roberts-Lilley is our Higher-level Teaching Assistant.
In class 1, we have 2-year-old provision, EYFS and KS1. The classroom has an area that is predominantly used by the KS1 children to complete written tasks, and the rest of the room is continuous provision for EYFS and 2-year-olds. KS1 have times during the day where they may also access the continuous provision.
Generally, Reception and KS1 children complete phonics, English and Maths activities during the morning and foundation subjects are taught in the afternoons (Art, DT, Geography, History, Computing, PE and Forest School).
We have a spacious outdoor area with further continuous provision that is accessed through the classroom. Many of the EYFS activities are completed in this area.
Every child in Reception to Year 2 has their own iPad, which they can take home to complete set tasks and practise basic Maths and English skills through a variety of apps.
All children take part in regular Forest School sessions where they have the opportunity to light and cook on fires, use tools and take part in activities that make use of the natural environment.
At break times and lunch times, Class 1 join class 2 on the school yard, where they have the opportunity to join in with a variety of games or ride scooters and bikes.
